Jesus Painter

3'x4' Acrylic on canvas

Here is a performance painting that I did in my garage studio and if I can figure out how to upload the video you can see me paint this from start to finish. It's a very quick painting but very fun to do. I actually copied it from the real "jesus painter" but that's just me. When I see somthing great I want to paint it! And I love Jesus!

excessive, exaggerated anxiety

Oil on Canvas 3'x4'

I've been drawing and thinking lately(and playing my wifes guitar writing an indie alternative song) so needless to say tonight was a random act of painting! I found great joy in watching my oldest daughter find her way through a painting last week. (which I will post on this blog on a later date) Teaching my kids to draw and paint is importaint to the work that goes into a piece of art. And this painting is one Ive been dreaming of for many years. I worked under Eugene Garin and he was the master at seascapes. One of his works led me here and I will forever be grateful for the little but enlightening time we spent together. I love the feel of oil and will be tweeking this painting for awhile to really learn some things.

The Crucifiction

4'x5' acrylic on canvas

This is a painting that I'm surprised by every time I am doing it live. I have this fear that people will think that it is too graphic but I always hear the stories of how it touched people. One testimony that I heard this weekend was from a mom who was telling me that her son knew exactly what I was painting from the first strokes. He said, "I know Him!" and turned to his friend and said, "but you don't know Him..not yet." His friend said..."know who?" and the boy replied, "Jesus!". Then he saw me painting the red blood on His arm and face...and the boy said,"that was for me" and turned to his friend and said,"that was for you too!"
Once I painted this painting at a youth event where I was preaching while I painted Christ...that was fun.
