Happy Holidays

Here is a performance painting that I did at Shari's mom's church up in Jackson CA on Easter 08. It's a penticostal chruch so there was lots of Spirit! I am posting it because it also depicts the scene in Bethlehem where Jesus was born. When I was painting this I had a completely different plan and I was moved by the Spirit and He lead me through the "Life of Christ". I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas remembering Him who called himself I AM.

Somthing is Brewing!
Oil on Canvas 3'x4' (in progress)

Great Paintings by Addie and Emilie. I love watching them enjoy just putting paint on canvas. They are definitly getting better! My vision for the future is to see the Panasiukart School open to give all children the opportunity that my girls have to experience the Joy of Paniting! I'm still working out the details but I have 15 years of experience in running a sucessful buisness and I love to paint. Stay tuned for more work from me and my girls as we dazzle you with new works of art!

Addie and Emilie Painting

I love that my little girls love to paint, so after some chores today I made good on my promise that they would have some time on the easel to create. It is the beginning of a dream that I have to open a childrens art studio. It begins in the studio in my garage. Children need to connect with the different medias of expression and I am happy that the girls love and take pride in there work. Brady is still on the side lines watching his sisters. His time will come.

Painting with Addie

I have been having a great time this summer just enjoying my family and finding special times to paint with my children. Addie is turning 8 on Sunday and she loves to paint so I am showing her work today in water colour and one in acrylic. She believes she's a real artist and she is! Enjoy!

New Work from the Studio

In uncertain times the Master asks us to trust Him and act out our Faith...In two different places in Scripture Jesus asks his disciples to act out the impossible. Once when Jesus was walking on the water and Peter steps out of the boat to walk to Him...Another time when the storm is raging and they loose faith and go below to wake Jesus up from his sleep to have him calm the waters.

Addie was helping me paint tonight and she had the best time. I paint on very large canvas and she is use to paint on a small scale. Once she got the idea that she wasn't going to mess anything up...she went to town and had a blast. This is going to be a personal peice for the Family. Thank you Addie for helping Dad tonight.

A trip to the city does an artist good

Our family went to San Fransisco for the day on Sunday. It was great. We had lunch at Golden Gate Park then took the Cable Car from Powell St to the Peir and had ice cream. And finally ended up on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge (which is not really gold at all...according to Addie). It was nice to get out of our normal routine and take a break.

Optimism

Today Shari and I watched the Michael J. Fox's ABC-TV Special on Optimism and it was awesome! I recommend this special for everyone who just wants to watch some good TV and walk away feelin good. One of my strengths which drives me in all areas of my life is a healthly dose of Optimism.

A door may close on you but "no worries" another will open!
No...Really...I don't worry about it!

Some thinkers say "Your life begins now! So go out and write on the blank pages of your future!" I see it more like...I've already done this, I've been here before, so all I'm doing is looking back on my life and remembering this very moment. When I'm in the Spirit I can find it...but this very idea of looking back is in Ephesians chapter 2. You see right now I'm literally in Heaven and Jesus just said to me "Hey, danny, do you remember that time when.... and I say, Oh Yeah! I remember...

Eternity!

Peace and Love,
Saint Danny

From the studio in my garage #2

Back in the studio after some time of wandering and learning about where I was headed next, and I must say that it was awesome just to hang out and enjoy myself. I acutally recorded about 15 min of painting that I will share with you on a later post. As I was painting I felt like I had an audience, some of you have seen me paint in front of a crowd of people, I love it! And I hope to do more of that in the future. When I was in art school I remember watching a video of DeKooning painting for 20 min. and remembering that I didn't want it to end. Hopefully when you see my video you will see the magic of painting with Danny!

Our junk-God's Art

We were in Santa Cruz for Easter weekend with Sam and Julie's family and we found many things on the beach, well actually Addie was the our little paleontologist, and this is a piece that she found and may I say that it was a great find. It's a piece of metal that came from the ocean: Ohhh! Maybe it's peice from a sunken ship!
The young mind can only imagine.
This is a great example of God creating Art from something that mankind has manipulated from the original purpose that God imagined. Just being there on the beach and being reminded of how small we really are but how our small things make huge impacts. Ahhh, but the great Equalizer will step in and make it right again making it all the more true that He takes the messes of men and turns them into beautiful things.
What an awesome effect that the saltly Sea and the passing of Time has accomplished together in response to Worship our creator!

From TV to the Studio

This is an Oil Painting on Canvas 20"x16" that I painted a couple of months ago. I was bored and gave in to watching some over dramatic TV with Shari. And as I was watching "the biggest loser" I noticed a painting in the background that caught my eye. So I paused the tivo and ran back and forth from the TV to my studio and I painted this picture. This just goes to show you that watching TV is not as bad for you as one may think, you just might spot some good art! I also remember seeing good Art on "the apprentice". Not that I watch that show or have ever. I can tell you this for sure-- there is no good art hanging on The Bachelor.

The Seven Spirits of God

Today my meditation brought me to this painting that I did a couple of months ago. It is Oil paint on Wood titled "The Seven Spirits of God". Not long ago was watching this show on Ovation TV featuring Rothko and I went to my studio and painted this painting. I showed Shari and she said, "why are you tring to paint Rothko?"...I got alittle offended and cleaned my brushes. One thing I like about Rothko is his soft lines. I see the Spirits of God as Soft whispers of guidance. I finally hung this piece and Shari likes it now...Uhh? So in light of the happenings of the world around us...I look to another world within.

Here's that video I promised...
Enjoy

Empty

Well now it's just an empty brown wall. And I must say that I'm shocked and more sad than I thought I would be. This wasn't a surprise to me, I knew this would happen. They told me that they were painting over it and I was OK with it. But now I am sad because I miss it... and I didn't think I would. Yes...I know it's still there underneath the brown paint. At least now I know how I really felt about that mural...here I thought I had no feelings...

That is why I must share with you now a video that I saw on TV of an artist that did this very thing on purpose. I love watching stuff like this because it's just crazy...who gets to just sit around all day and just paint?

Robert Rauschenberg took a De Kooning painting and actually erased it and he called it - "Erased De Kooning Drawing"

So Long Good Friend

Here's a sad story... this is a mural that I painted over 10 years ago, maybe even 15...And it will soon be gone. This mural is on the Cup-A-Joe building and the new owners have decided to paint over it. I'm okay with it but still a little sad. I have painted six murals in my life time all were full size walls. This piece is 8'x16'. I know that it wasn't quite finished but I feel like it had character and I just couldn't mess with that. We'll So long!

Thinking about getting into the studio

Yes I know that I said I will be in there painting...you have to understand that there is more to it than sitting and letting it flow. I am constantly thinking about my work and I am pausing for a moment to unleash the brush with truth. There is a passage in the Bible that I read over and over. John 1 1-18 and here even God himself shares with us the beauty of this "dimentionality" that he created. Light is the ruler over darkness. Light dispells darkness. When you draw something on paper you must first shine a big powerful light on the subject then start by drawing the darkness which will reveal the light. You find your way to the light through darkness. I often meditate and hum the hymn from my childhood:

"Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee"

I imagine God "Jesus" the true Light and how when He turns there is no shadow because Light has no shadow. When Jesus sees...what does he see? I believe He does not see darkness because He being the Light dispells it. And I think and can't wait for that one day when He will put His light in me...and then I remember, Oh Yeah! He already has!

I will be in my studio tomorrow night with more pictures of the progression of this new peice that I'm working on. I also have a portriat painting of my son Brady that I'm working on but I set it aside for awhile. Maybe I'll shoot a photo so you can see it.
